New Beginning Ministry
A ministry of Faith Fellowship church and OMS Philippines.
The New Beginning Ministry is an outreach to underprivileged children and their families who live near Faith Fellowship church in Quezon City, Philippines.  Begun in October of 2002, the ministry reached out to families and children living under a bridge.  Each Saturday more than 100 children were taught Bible stories and verses, songs, did crafts, and were given a simple snack.  The children have also been tutored in school, and provided baths and and a breakfast each Sunday before church.  In October of 2003, the first ever medical mission was held.  More than 500 people received free medical care from 200 volunteers in the church.  Many were ushered into the Kingdom of God as well.
In December of 2005, a terrible tragedy happened.  The homes where the people lived under the bridge were destroyed in a fire.  Hundreds of families were made homeless.  They lived for several months on a basketball court near the bridge in makeshift shelters, waiting for the government to help them relocate to a new area.  Most of the families were finally moved a few weeks ago to a neighboring province, but a few were able to find housing near the church.  These continue to be discipled by the ministry and are active in the church.
The ministry recently started a livelihood program to help those remaining nearby, and others who have been met more recently who are in need of resources and training so they can feed their families.  There will also be a day center for children to come in off the street to be tutored, fed, and have a safe place to play and learn.
